RegTech Virtual Series – Navigating the pathway for delivering accurate, timely, consistent, transparent, and accessible ESG data.

The Data Coalition and DFIN, in partnership with the EDM Council ESG Working Group – Driving Best Data Practices for the emerging Environmental, Social, and Governance Data EcoSystem

The need for accurate, timely, consistent, transparent, accessible ESG data      and clear data management processes is a significant challenge for all stakeholders in the ESG ecosystem. Whether you are a corporate reporting entity, data aggregator, rating/research firm, investment manager, or asset owner, there is a lot of confusion related to ESG data. This is due, in part, to evolving regulation and standards and no clear understanding about what stakeholders want.

The increased focus on environmental, social, and corporate governance for financial services, and many emerging verticals, around the world has been met by mixed understandings and perspectives about what ESG is, what it means, and how it can apply to improve services and investment quality. During this 1-hour virtual event, participants will hear more about the basics of the ESG Ecosystem including its current state, emerging best practices, and target state.

DFIN in partnership with the Data Coalition will be featuring the findings of the EDM Council ESG Working Group on October 21 at 2:00PM and continuing the conversation with recommendations from the Data Coalition ESG Working Group on November 18 at 2:00PM.

October 21 – The ESG Corporate Reporting Data Lifecycle - The Data Coalition and DFIN will host a conversation with members of the EDM Council ESG Working Group that focuses on the results of its Corporate Reporting Entity findings. The report is one section of a larger body of work that contains the results of a nine-month study to investigate, review, and document ESG data challenges through a collaborative, cross-industry approach with data professionals, corporate sustainability reporting professionals, ESG subject matter experts, and other business leaders.

November 18 –  Driving the ESG Ecosystem with standardized, auditable, machine readable data - The need for accurate, timely, consistent, accessible, ESG data and the supporting data management practices are two sides of the same coin, yet they prove to be a significant challenge to all in the ESG ecosystem. During this virtual event, the Data Coalition and DFIN will explore recommendations to improve the ESG data ecosystem among financial institutions and regulators with a preliminary look at the Data Coalition ESG Working Group’s report, an overview of emerging practices in the financial industry, and key decisions made during COP26 that could influence ESG reporting in the United States.
